Jorge Ignacio Nazabal Cowan

I was born on November 27, 1962 in Havana Cuba, where I still reside. In 1985 I graduated with a Bachelor of Biological Sciences from the University of Havana (1980-1985). I worked as a Cytogeneticist for 12 years in the Laboratory of Prenatal Cytogenetic Diagnosis of the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital in Havana. Since 1993 I began to alternate this work with artistic creation. Seeking to improve the Family economy, I sold my first drawings in Public Markets where I traded with Artisans. In 1996 I enrolled at the San Alejandro Art Academy and from the following year my only professional job was Painting. I did 4 Personal Exhibitions and several Collective Exhibitions between 1999 and 2003. Later I have dedicated myself more to commissioned works and my Family life but I have not stopped participating in Important National and International Collective Exhibitions. In 2011 I became a member of the Society for the Art of Imagination (Brigid Marlin) and won the First Prize in their Online Portrait Competition. Then I participated in two of his exhibitions (in London; 2011 and in Vienna; 2012)

Most of my works are in private collections in Spain, Italy, the United States, Panama, the Bahamas, Mexico, Canada, France, England and Austria (Vienna). http://nazabal.artelista.com
