Gaia Orion
Originally from bustling Paris, France, it is close to nature, living right on the Canadian Shield that I opened up creatively and artistically and expressed that which was once hidden. In the quest to understand myself and life I came to realize that there is a healthy, pristine, naturally intelligent state of living. What manifested and is continuing to arise are universal, unifying themes expressed in simple archetypal images. With deliberate, minute brush strokes, I create compelling geometric patterns with bold colors, mesmerizing compositions offer symbolic meaning on many levels. Nature, global and figurative motifs coalesce and harmonize together in the spirit of wholeness and infinity. My paintings beckon the viewer to relax and contemplate, explore, and discover the inner and outer worlds of existence.
The images that have flowered have subsequently assisted my own personal development. Furthermore, in sharing the artwork and connecting with others I discovered that these transformational images are part of a larger visionary movement that is active in society today… as deep ecology, social justice, conscious politic, alternative economy, and so on… Uniting our vision and natural talents can become a catalyst for individual and collective change so that we can move together toward a healthier humanity.
Gaia has gained international recognition by participating in many worldwide projects that are working toward constructive world change.
She has exhibited in Paris, Moscow, New York, San Francisco and Toronto; as well as in Mexico, Columbia, Spain, Germany, Hungary and Bali.
Growing up the first seven years of her life, mostly bare foot in Africa, provided Gaia with the foundation for her love of nature and an aspiration for living free. She studied and graduated in Paris as an architect before her adult life took her to the forest in Canada. Her paintings concurrently started to emerge as she found her way back to the ‘wild’.
